Ranei Wineera
The success of this One heart Many Lives programme is attributed to the relationships between the different PHOs and our community groups who actively work towards our shared vision of 'helping people improve their health'. Participants were supported and encouraged to access any health education and physical activity programmes across Porirua at times and places suitable to them and health promotion staff provided programmes where needed.
Based on this experience and success Porirua are now leading another 'One Heart Many Lives' programme for Wellington, Kapiti and Porirua which will run in May 2008.
Ranei is Ngati Toa, Ngapuhi and has been the Manager for Tumai mo te Iwi PHO since it started in 2003. Tumai provides primary care to 45,000 people within Porirua, has 10 medical practices and many outreach services. Tumai serve 60% of the Maori and 50% of the Pacific population for Porirua. Ranei supports the Mental health advisory and long term conditions advisory groups across local PHOs and is a member of the Kenepuru Hospital Steering Group and the Porirua Centre of Excellence.
