What would a Primary Care Oriented, Recovery Focused Mental Health Service Look Like?

The NZ mental health strategy to date has mostly ignored the high prevalence disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders and drug and alcohol misuse. Mental health services have not always connected well with primary care – despite recent research showing that up to 30% of those attending GP practices have a diagnosable disorder. This presentation analyses some of the current issues in mental health service delivery and outline the plans being developed by CCDHB in The Journey Forward to develop a primary care oriented, recovery focused mental health service.
