This presentation gives an overview of the components of the Like
Minds project and how these have grown and developed since the project
began in 1996. The overview will give some feel for how in
particular national mass media advertising, communications, resource
development and research have combined with grassroots community
activity to meet the projects goals. Learnings from the project
will be also be discussed.
Prior to working in health in New Zealand I worked for several years in
the UK and Australia within community based organisations mainly in the
area of employment programmes and disability. I have been working on
the 'Like Minds, Like mine,' project for five years and in health in
New Zealand for ten years in a range of roles in communication and
project management. I have a strong interest in evaluation and research.
I was born in Wellington and grew up in a family of seven children. I
have two children of my own who keep me busy outside of my work.
