Andrew retells and shares his experiences of undergoing five open heart surgeries, which led to the publication of ‘Purple Heart’ by Random House in August 2006, one of the most talked about books of the last nine months. Voted one of NZ Listener Magazines Top Books of 2006, it has garnered rave reviews and warm praise for its honesty, compassion and humour. Purple Heart is now studied by senior English classes at selected Auckland Colleges.
